| Dear prospective
Warrior Hoopsters and families,
The winter sports
season is rapidly approaching as tryouts begin Monday, November 10
(2008-09
Tryout Schedule). Our basketball staff is eager to start the
season as we expect an exciting, fun and successful season.
Before a student
can tryout for the basketball team the following items must be
accomplished:
1- Physical
Form
A change in policy has occurred within the Beaverton School
District #48. In the past, athletes only had to have a physical once in
high school. Now a physical is only good for two years. This means all
freshman and juniors must successfully complete a physical, having their
doctor utilize the enclosed form (OSAA
School Sports Pre-Participation Examination). We recommend
you do this ASAP as scheduling can become difficult. Again, please have
your doctor use the enclosed form! Sophomores and seniors who HAVE NOT
had a physical last year must also get one.
2- Parent
Permission
All boys trying out for basketball must have their
families fill-out the enclosed Parent Permission Form.
3- Hand-in
Forms
Take each of the completed enclosed forms to Mrs. Cook
in the athletic office. She will give you a gold receipt that must be
given to Coach Bendt or Coach Wambold
prior to tryouts. Mrs. Cook is located in the Athletic Office and
will begin accepting forms on Monday, November 3rd. No one will be
allowed to try out with out their paper work being turned in!
4- Grade Form
Turned in
Each boy interested in trying out must turn in a grade
check form into Coach Bendt, Coach
Wambold, or Coach Holderman before they can try out.
5- Participation Fee
As with all sports, it costs $125 to play
basketball. However, this fee is not due until after cuts and teams have
been decided. There is payment and scholarship opportunities for those
who qualify.
Finally, make sure
to continue your commitment to improve your athletic ability, basketball
skills and, most importantly, strive for excellence in the classroom,
hallways, and community. We look forward to seeing you on November 10th.
Sincerely,
Tom Bendt
Head Boys' Basketball Coach
